Use the following steps to get the system to boot from USB drive (or USB stick). See the following link for information about how to create a USB drive: How to Create a USB Recovery Drive and Use it to Recover Windows 10. Then I copy the image to any of the drives located on my NAS at \server\ and begin the install on the SSD. When the install is done, copy the files from the NAS to the new system. I have a second laptop. Thinkpad T480 that has a 256GB nvme drive with Windows 10 21H1 64-bit UEFI on it. I want to clone that drive to a larger 1TB Sata SSD. Then use that Sata drive in the Thinkpad. And this is how I did that: Switched off secure boot in the Thinkpad Bios and booted from a Macrium Reflect Free v8 rescue USB key.
